Small goal

This is probably going to sound lame, but my goal for the month of December is to not gain any weight. I’m not going to set myself up for the failure of “lose 10 pounds” around the holidays, because there’s way too much Bailey’s and hot-buttered rum to drink. But if I can avoid packing [...]

It has come to this

You know we’re reaching the conclusion of NaBloPoMo when I have to resort to telling you about the dream I had last night.
I found this 10-gallon drum of clear syrup in my cupboard, and inside it were all these different little creatures who had formed a society. There were definitely sea monkeys there, since [...]

Home for a day

Seriously..that’s it.  I’m home for one night, then I have to turn around and go back to Clackamas, which seems like such a waste, and it’s putting a lot of miles on my car, but I just have to keep remembering that I’m driving for dollars.

I was so nervous about today’s seminar that [...]

Is it just me, or does Conway Twitty look like something went horribly, horribly wrong with Joshua Jackson?

Holiday travel

It took me five hours to drive from Seattle to Portland today.  Ugh.  At one point some guy walked by me on on the shoulder, on his way to see what the hell the hold-up was.  Around an hour later, he walked by again going the other way.
I rolled down my window and asked, “Hey [...]

Giddy anticipation

It’s ridiculous how excited I am that Battlestar Galactica: Razor is on tonight.  I know it’s all about the past (past in BSG time, that is), and there will probably not be any big revelations, but I don’t care.  It’s been a long time since there has been a new episode, and it will be [...]

Happy Black Friday to me

I haven’t been happy with my coffee maker lately, and even though today is the worst possible day to shop, I had to get a new one.  I couldn’t concentrate, I couldn’t think about anything else besides “need a new coffee maker NOW!”
So I braved the crowds in search of a somewhat specific coffee maker.  [...]
